Building community capacity and leadership ensures that the work continues regardless of external support.
Transformative Scenario Planning as a Tool for Capacity Building and Community Engagement
Transformative scenario planning is designed to bring marginalized voices into the conversation with decision makers. It centers community by creating space for diverse perspectives, including those typically excluded and building leadership capacity from within the community.
Building Community Capacity for Research
Team ATL Grove Park member Erin Bradley describes capacity building as a primary goal of community-engaged research. Sustainability means building community capacity to continue the work after the researchers leave or research funding ends. Reciprocity means leaving skills behind, not just taking data. Solutions are sustainable when communities have the capacity to generate their own knowledge. Sharing power and skills expands everyone’s capacity.
