Established as a cornerstone of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s national leadership initiatives from 2015 to 2025, the Interdisciplinary Research Leaders (IRL) program focused on expanding action-oriented, community-engaged research to foster healthier environments. The primary objective of the program was to cultivate a diverse cohort of interdisciplinary leaders capable of conducting high-quality, equity-focused health research. By applying these rigorous findings, the program sought to drive systemic improvements in community health and facilitate the advancement of a Culture of Health.
