Curriculum Modules Home ››› Ethical Knowledge-Sharing and Dissemination

This module explores ethical approaches to sharing and disseminating knowledge in ways that center community voice, agency, and accountability. Participants will examine how to amplify rather than speak for communities, create accessible informed consent processes, and develop participatory dissemination plans that engage communities throughout the research process. The module also highlights diverse dissemination formats that extend beyond traditional academic publications and reflect the needs, priorities, and preferences of the communities most affected by the research.
Topics
Amplifying vs. Speaking For
Ethical knowledge sharing requires that researchers not speak for the community but to amplify their existing voices.
Accessible Informed Consent Processes
A creative approach to ensuring equitable informed consent processes that support agency and decision-making.
Dissemination Plans
Participatory dissemination refers to the intentional, collaborative process through which research knowledge is created, interpreted, shared, and mobilized with communities.
Diverse Dissemination Formats
Dissemination products can extend well beyond peer-reviewed formats.

We’re sharing knowledge in formats that are accessible and meaningful to diverse community audiences, not just academic ones.
